Being true to yourself is not always easy. The world loves labels, loves boxes, loves to decide who you should be before you even get the chance to figure it out yourself. It rewards those who conform, who soften their edges to fit into the mould, who trade authenticity for acceptance.
But you - you are not here to be palatable. You are not here to be easy, or small, or someone else’s idea of who you should be.
Being real comes with a cost. It means some people will misunderstand you. It means you will lose things - opportunities, relationships, the comfort of blending in. It means standing alone sometimes, holding onto your truth when it would be easier to let it go.
But here’s the thing: the cost of being real is nothing compared to the cost of pretending.
Pretending will drain you in ways you cannot even name. It will steal your voice, your fire, your peace. It will leave you in rooms you don’t belong in, wearing masks that don’t fit, living a life that feels more like a performance than a home.
So be real, even when it’s hard. Be real, even when it means losing people who only loved the version of you that served them. Be real, because at the end of the day, the only thing worse than being misunderstood is being loved for something you’re not.
